My Afghan

So excited to be working on my own afghan. I've never made one for myself. I've made plenty for other people. This will be mine. Caron Simply Soft yarn, bright colors, outlined in black. Big, really big... I'm thinking I need 100 of these little 6.5 inch squares to make it the size I want. These are the tools I am using: My EK Success scissors (so sharp), my "I" (5.5 mm) crochet hook and embroidery needle to sew ends and to connect all the squares when I'm done.

I'm happy to say that I am holding my own since the split up. I have bad days, where I just want to stay in the bed, but I get up, go to work, make it through, come home, cook for the kiddos  and end up on the couch crocheting and watching Netflix. My current obsession is the show "Lost". It's totally weird but it keeps my attention. And the crocheting is going well.
Life is continuing by.
I have not died from the pain.

Self-explanatory...

Charles and I separated in October of 2013. He asked me to bring his insulin pump to him at work and right away I jumped in the car in my jammies to run it up to his work and put it into his truck. When I opened the truck door, I found a letter and a gift a woman at his work had left for him. Of course I brought it home and opened and read it.

Our marriage in my mind has really been over for four years. I just kept hoping that time would heal the wounds and we could work things out. Little did I know that as time went on, he would just get more bold, and eventually sleep with someone he was working with.

So now I am alone. I've been sleeping alone since October 12th. I went  on a girls trip to Atlanta, I went to the Christmas party alone. I did thanksgiving and Christmas with my family alone. I am going to be ok.

Crochet Therapy

Crocheting is such therapy for me. I love the yarn, the texture, the color and making something with my hands.

This flower takes about 30 minutes to make. It is huge. Way too big to pin for a corsage. But I do like it. Just not sure what to do with it. So, I thought I would just snap a picture of it on a blue granny square background. Speaking of granny...my granny Ruth taught me to crochet when I was about seven. I have crocheted off and on my whole life. About 40 years, come to think of it. So this rose is dedicated to my Granny Ruth. I love you and miss you.

Signs, Signs, Everywhere There's Signs

I'm learning to paint signs. I absolutely have found my niche. I have been crafty my whole life, I've scrapbooked, made cards, sewn, crocheted and now I am loving making signs.  Pinterest http://pinterest.com/katstamps65/signs-signs-everywhere-theres-signs/ is fantastic inspiration. I painted this sign for a dear friend who got married last year. It was a beach wedding. I had started something for her before she ever got married and of course I'm just now finishing it. Got my inspiration from Pinterest. Love that sight!

I also painted this sign for a friend who is getting married in May.

The sign is actually the purple colors in the top pic, but outside in the sun it kind of looks blueish.  (Please ignore the crumpled up rug, my pup Daisy has been chewing on.)

I also painted this picture on a piece of wood slat for a dear teenage friend of mine Savannah. She's had a rough couple of months and I couldn't help but think of her when I was painting this. I was inspired from a tin wall hanging that I bought at Hobby Lobby.

Are you a crafty person? Do you try many different avenues of craft? Do you have a niche?

A Saturday in Clarksville

Upholstery Store in Clarksville. Lots of lovely bright fabrics. Snapped lots of pics with my phone.
This wavy one reminds me of my crochet bag:

I crocheted this wavy yarn bag this weekend. Very happy with how it turned out. The hooks on the wall I bought at Home Goods for $4.99. It had some doggy saying on it that I painted black over and then modge-podged the scrapbook paper over.

Always find inspiration at Kirklands!
Love the big metal flower!
